The COVID-19 Relief program provided neighborhood grants to assist small business and retail based nonprofits with revenue gaps experienced while shutdown or operating at 50% capacity. In its first round, which occurred April 2020, NUFC provided 30 business and retail-based nonprofits with the same grant. To date NUFC has provided 68 businesses and retail-based non-profits with $170,000 worth of grant funds.
Midway United Fund is a community fund for Midway and Union Park residents, local businesses, and community organizations facing immense challenges. The community fund makes grants available to qualifying residents, local businesses, and community organizations within a half-mile of Allianz Field.
Currently, NUFC is redefining itself and creating the next grant fund programs which will be made available by September 2020, to the residents, local businesses, and community organizations within a defined area.
This community fund was first proposed by a 2016 City Council resolution, and a resulting community task force conducted exhaustive engagement with residents and business owners. After years of collaboration, NUFC has grown from an idea into a community-advised board and fund.
“I’m thankful for the generosity of Midway United donors, neighbors around the city who support the Midway, and the hard work of everyone who is part of the Midway United fund and committee. These much-needed funds will help neighborhood businesses stay alive and support critical rebuilding efforts in the heart of our city. This work also wouldn’t be possible without our community partners and I am grateful for their vision and leadership,” said Council Member Mitra Jalali, Ward 4.”
The NUFC is honored to have already received $970,000 in donations from organizations and individual donors, primarily since the unrest.
